Late Afternoon in a Subalpine Meadow

Late afternoon light in a subalpine meadow,

a feeling of ecstasy washes over me while the Aspens wave in concert,

nothing else matters here but the present,

surrounded by friends,

taking in with careful moderation this setting,

lest we neglect to appreciate every crafted detail,

in the branches splitting off in myriad directions,

in the Mountain Bluebells striving for their share of light in the understory,

in the subtle flow of energy through each and every living and nonliving thing,

I could feel it as a giddy, soulful light in my heart,

heightened as it was in this moment,

beyond my immediate and conscious directive,

as the time fades,

but the feeling persists,

reverberating throughout this context of immediate existence,

in every minuscule aspect,

of this moment and none other,

gone is this day,

save for improper recreation,

in memory.
